This mega-classic climb features some of the best climbing at the 5.8 grade, and definitely some of the best rock climbing in Eldorado Canyon State Park. Brilliant finger cracks, strenuous offwidths, airy traverses, and steep jug hauling are the name of the game here. For those that want to bump the difficulty up a grade, the Rover variation on pitch 2 is pretty awesome and incredibly steep!
Ruper was first climbed in the early 1960’s by the legendary Layton Kor and his climbing partners Ed Risley and Bob Culp. Over the years, Ruper has always been considered one of the canyon classics with its large variety of climbing and hair-raising exposure. A quick approach hike and easy descent make this big multi pitch route about as nice as a day of sport cragging!
