Description

Take your climbing to the next level!  This one-day course is designed to teach the skills needed to lead sport routes outdoors for women and genderqueer.  It is ideal for experienced top rope climbers, gym climbers (both top ropers and leaders), and those returning to the sport after a hiatus.  Led by knowledgeable women guides, this course will cover gear selection and use, personal risk assessment, clipping stances and practices, lead belaying, rope management, and building/cleaning common single pitch anchors.  Top ropes will be set up on terrain 5.8 and below to practice mock leading.

Prerequisites:  Participants must: (i) have the ability to top rope belay; (ii) comfortably climb a minimum of 5.8 on top rope; (iii) tie-in using the figure-8 retrace; and (iv) be able to hike over uneven terrain with a pack for up to a mile.
