Backcountry Ski

Thinking about playing in the snow more this season? Then let us help show you how to explore the backcountry of Colorado in style!

Our backcountry ski courses are designed to inspire, elevate, and educate your skiing abilities and backcountry knowledge in some of Colorado’s most incredible and breathtaking landscapes. Learn about avalanche safety, uphill and downhill techniques, route and tour planning and so much more.

Backcountry skiing involves skiing out of bounds in unmarked areas of challenging and complex terrain that are not patrolled. Our courses can teach you what gear and equipment you need to explore the untracked stashes of powder and how to properly use it. Our expert educators and guides will teach you the fundamentals of avalanche safety, companion rescue, and ski terrain to play in. Learn how to understand and evaluate avalanche terrain and snow conditions with your guide/instructor while simultaneously assessing the risk and making sound decisions.

We teach technical rope skills for ski mountaineering and can help empower you to get into the terrain you’ve only dreamt of skiing. Ropework, anchor building, and other considerations of climbing with skis or a splitboard are all topics we cover in our backcountry ski courses.

Our courses are offered in Rocky Mountain National Park and many other locations along the Interstate 70 corridor and Colorado. Many course locations are within an hour’s drive of the Denver Metro area making it easy to commute. This also gives us access to some of the best ski terrain near Denver!

The progression of our ski courses makes it easy for beginners and experts alike to jump in and experience Colorado in the winter. Learn from professional avalanche educators and expert guides as you embark in one of our ski courses.
